February is Black History Month, and the New York State Education Department (NYSED), in collaboration with The Education Trust-New York, would like to recognize students in MBK/MSK programs across the state. For the past several years, NYSED has partnered with MBK/MSK programs and The Education Trust-New York to share students’ stories with our #MyHistoryMyFuture social media campaign.
We invite MBK/MSK students to share their voices with us again this year by submitting 100-150 characters (Tweet appropriate…with some room for tags and hashtags) that answer this question: What do you want the future to look like?
We’d love it if the students’ submissions include a reference to how their participation in MBK/MSK, specifically, is helping to shape their future!
Along with the student quote, we ask that you include:
· First Name
· Grade
· School
· OPTIONAL: Photo
· Please note: If you choose to share a photo, please upload a signed release form with your submission. The release form is attached to this email.
Please use this submission form to submit student responses.
Since Black History Month is quickly approaching, we hope to receive as many submissions as possible by Friday, January 28. Of course, we’ll happily accept submissions any time throughout the month of February.
We are happy to share this opportunity with all our seniors, the NYSMBK is offering a College Essay Masterclass in a two-part series scheduled for November 30 and December 7 at 5 PM.
The topics for this life-changing Masterclass will be:
