Write Now Party
Our students go through the experience of building a story in a Storywriting School workshop. However, some of them have told us that they'd like to get a lot of writing done in a similar atmosphere: focused, in the company of other writers, and with an important inspiration: a deadline. So, we came up with what we call a Write Now Party. It's simply a writing marathon that's based on the story building principles taught by Dr. Joem Antonio.
While Storywriting School students had already spent some time designing stories in our workshops, the Write Now Party is six full hours of building a story (plus an hour for the lunch break) from start to zero draft. They go through the whole pre-writing stage. They sometimes come in with a story concept, or they explore their options during the Write Now Party. They also go through the writing stage. If they intend to write shorter material like short stories or ten-minute plays, they likely get the zero draft done within the day. Longer material like novels or full-length plays will obviously not be done within that day, but they'd probably cover all the beats.
But some prefer to come with material already written. That's great as well; they often spend the day revising and asking the facilitator for feedback.
Want to master the writing process or to simply make progress in your story? If so, we invite you to attend one of our writing workshops, and then join a Write Now Party.
Note: Because of the method used in the Write Now Party, we only accept students of past Storywriting School courses. If you'd like to attend a Write Now Party but have never attended our workshops, please consider joining one, and then attending the Write Now Party for that quarter.
