Hello, and welcome to my ePortfolio! I’m Lida Beheshti, and I’m thrilled to share a glimpse of my world with you. This site is a reflection of my journey, my work, and the passions that drive me. Whether you’re here to learn about my research, connect over shared interests, or simply explore, I hope you find something meaningful and inspiring.
Originally from Iran, I moved to the United States in 2017, embarking on a journey that has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. I’m currently a senior at Stony Brook University, where I’m studying biology with a focus on neurobiology. I also hold a PharmD from Iran, where I worked as a pharmacist for five years before my transition to research and further studies. My experiences in both pharmacology and neurobiology have fueled my interest in exploring the complexities of the human brain, specifically in understanding neurodegenerative diseases like ALS.
Beyond academics, I have a deep love for Persian culture and tradition. I’m captivated by Persian poetry, particularly the works of Hafez, whose verses speak to me of love, resilience, and spirituality. Through his words, I find reflections that resonate with my life and offer wisdom on personal growth.
This ePortfolio serves as a comprehensive space where I can share my academic journey, my reflections, and my aspirations. I’ve created it not only to document my work and achievements but also to connect with others who share similar interests. Whether you’re interested in neurobiology, pharmacology, or Persian culture, I hope this site offers insight into my perspective and my dedication to making a difference through research.
The [“Academics” page] offers an overview of my studies and lab experiences. It includes my work in Professor Roger Sher’s lab, where we focus on neurodegenerative diseases like ALS, as well as my contributions in the neurobiology lab, exploring how nerve and muscle cells control movement. You’ll also find information on my work in the Afshar Lab, where I helped develop an advanced topical delivery system for acne treatment. Each of these experiences showcases my passion for research and my dedication to advancing both science and healthcare.
Lastly, the [“Contact” page] is available if you'd like to connect—I’m always open to conversations and potential collaborations.
Thank you for visiting! I hope this ePortfolio gives you a sense of who I am, my values, and my journey in research and discovery.
