Network State Space

The different network states are the patterns of interaction that form as groups go from introduction to fully formed hierarchies. For example, when a group has just been introduced, it is in State 0. If the first interaction is that individual 1 directs an aggressive act toward 2, the group moves to State 1. If individual 1 then acts aggressively toward 3, the group now moves to State 2, and so on. See here for more information.

In the future we will have an interactive program on this website that will let researchers use their own data to trace how their groups move through network state space.
