The Directed Reading Program (DRP) in Mathematics at Stony Brook is an opportunity, offered every Spring semester, for undergraduates to explore advanced mathematical topics with the guidance of a graduate student mentor.
Starting from the first week of the semester, and ending two weeks prior to finals, undergraduate mentees will select a text and meet with their mentor for an hour every week to work towards a mathematical goal that they choose. At the end of the program we will host a ceremony in which participants will give 10–15 minute presentations on the material that they have covered.
The DRP is an excellent chance for you to experience research mathematics and learn more about topics that you might otherwise not see, and we hope that you'll apply!
