Each spring Stonington Public Schools reviews nominations submitted by staff, students, and families for the Educator of the Year award. The review committee is comprised of past district Educators of the Year with representation from schools across the district. The Educator of the Year Program recognizes and honors excellence in the classroom and related service areas*. It does not attempt to select the "best" educator; rather, to identify, from among many outstanding educators in the district, one educator to serve as a visible and vocal representative of what is best in the profession. The program celebrates excellence in teaching and special areas services by recognizing professionals who have inspired a love for learning in their students and who have distinguished themselves in the profession.
*Related service areas include speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, school counselors, and school psychologists.
