Hepler Science

"Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you're right." - Henry Ford

Welcome to Hepler Science.

I am excited that the 23-24 school year will be my eleventh year as part of the West Stokes family.  I grew up in King and graduated from South Stokes in 1996.  I graduated from Catawba College in 2001.

I came to West Stokes in 2013 and have served as the chair for our science department since 2015.  In 2019, I was named Teacher of the Year by West Stokes.  I was then named District Teacher of the Year by Stokes County Schools for the 19-20 school year. This year, I will be teaching Biology and Anatomy/Physiology.

Before coming to West, I spent three years teaching Biology, Marine Science, Anatomy & Physiology, and Earth Science at Northern Guilford High School.  My first teaching position was at New Hanover High School in Wilmington.  I spent four years there from 2001 to 2005 teaching Biology and Biology II.

In addition to teaching, I coached for 16 years. I was the offensive line coach at Catawba College from 2005-2009.  I also coached football at New Hanover, Northern Guilford, and for four years at West.  During my three years at Northern Guilford, we won the 2010, 2011, and 2012 3AA state titles.  I also coached track and field at New Hanover and West including multiple seasons as head coach.

This website is a great resource for keeping up with quiz, test, and project dates.  I will also continue to post class notes, test study guides, and other helpful resources. Also refer to the Google Classroom for your class for additional information.
