Stockton Esports: Developing Student Leaders

Stockton Esports, originating as a student-run program facilitated by the dedicated program manager Demetrios Roubos nearly six years ago, has burgeoned into a thriving community, steered by talented students and supportive faculty dedicated to fostering a passion for esports. Since its inception, the program has grown exponentially as more students join each semester. Stockton Esports has not only given many students an outlet for competition in their favorite games, but has also helped many students forge lasting bonds while honing skills crucial for both in-game prowess and future careers. The program empowers students to emerge as adept leaders  while allowing them to explore different areas in the growing field of Esports.

Investing in the Future: Collegiate Esports

Now, what began as a passionate pursuit among a small student group six years ago has since evolved into a groundbreaking initiative that has left a lasting impact on the university's academic landscape. At the start of the Fall 2023 semester, Stockton University made history in New Jersey by introducing the Bachelor of Science in Esports Management degree, also becoming the first public institution in the state to offer an undergraduate degree in esports. This landmark degree demonstrates the promising future of esports in New Jersey, and will use the field of esports as a catalyst to develop students and prepare them for their lives after graduation.

A Shared Vision: Stockton University and Camden County College Partner

Recognizing the promising future of esports is not unique to Stockton University alone. Camden County College, as the sole institution in its region offering an Associate in Applied Science in Esports Production degree, shares this vision. Building on this shared commitment to esports education, Stockton University and Camden County College forged a pioneering partnership on November 2nd, 2023. This pivotal collaboration allows credits from Camden County's degree to seamlessly transfer into Stockton's program. This marks the creation of the first esports degree pathway in New Jersey, enabling students to complete both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees within eight semesters. The partnership sets a compelling precedent, underscoring the promising trajectory of esports in the state.
