In alignment with Stockton University’s efforts towards a more equitable and inclusive university, Stockton Esports was inspired to launch an all-female initiative for one of the most popular games within esports: Valorant.

The realm of esports has been male-dominated for almost all of its history, with the distribution of video game users in the U.S. being 51% male, compared to 49% being female. This gap, coupled with a 2023 study stating that 20% of female gamers have experienced sexual harassment from male gamers, indicates the need for a gender-inclusive space within gaming. With events and tournaments planned for each semester, the All-Female Valorant Initiative is a casual gaming subsector of the Stockton Esports Organization that will be integrated into the competitive sector of the organization in the coming semester.
Stockton All Girls Valorant is a testament to the growing diversity and inclusivity within the Esports community. The emergence of such teams not only challenges stereotypes but also highlights the immense talent and passion that female gamers bring to the competitive gaming scene.
At its core, Stockton AGV represents more than just a group of players coming together to compete. It symbolizes empowerment, solidarity, and the breaking down of barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field. These teams provide a platform for female gamers to showcase their skills, build confidence, and inspire others to pursue their gaming ambitions without fear of gender bias or discrimination.
Moreover, the formation of such teams fosters a sense of community and belonging among female gamers within the college environment. It creates opportunities for mentorships, friendships, and shared experiences, as team members navigate the challenges and triumphs of competitive gaming together.
From a broader perspective, the existence of any all-girls Valorant teams in college settings can also contribute to greater diversity and representation in the Esports industry as a whole. By promoting inclusiveness and providing support for female gamers at the base level, colleges, and universities play a vital role in shaping the future landscape of competitive gaming.
Ultimately, Stockton AGV is not just about winning tournaments or achieving fame; it's about breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and paving the way for a more inclusive and diverse gaming community.

Her experience as the current Chief CEO and former Assistant Coordinator of the Cultural Engagement Ospreys (CEO) Internship has granted her experience in team management, and intersectionality, as well as her experience as the Esports Community Coordinator within Stockton Esports.
