STREAM Day
Did dinosaurs and humans ever co-exist? NO!
We began the month in the Jurassic Era with Dino Week. Our studies begin with dinosaurs to establish an accurate timeline of human history on earth. Bonus, they are awesome!
Just look at these young palentologists, at thier first ever dinosaur dig site in the Maker Space.
Next, Kindergarten will bring our prehistoric cavern to life with petroglyphs and pictograms of rhinoceros, bison, and bears; OH MY, wooly mammoth too! Petroglyphs are carved, and pictograms are painted onto stones, such as cave walls or rock cliffs. They contain the secrets of human life on earth. Between spoken storytelling and the formation of written languages was petroglyphic art. Two hundred thousand years ago, humans, made in His image, were inspired to create. They carved and painted animals of the hunt onto the stone walls of their natural cave dwellings.
Historians, scientists, artists, and the naturally curious are still asking the question, why?
Mrs. Felton's Technology Class
The students started building background knowledge about dinosaurs and fossils by researching. We used the internet to search for answers to students' questions like "Which dinosaur was the biggest?", "How many dinosaur species were there?" or "Which dinosaur is your favorite?"
In the final technology portion of the STREAM activities, students experienced augmented reality. The boys and girls were beyond excited and wanted to engage as they demonstrated their understanding of the lesson. They enjoyed diving into the content and wanted to continue exploring. The lesson successfully developed critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
