The first grade studied a chapter in Religion on Creation. We discussed how Creation is not finished (ie. erosion, volcanoes, earthquakes, people being born every day, new plants growing, new leaves and fruit on trees, etc.)  We decided to plant a fall crop in the planter boxes in the preschool playground.  Pumpkins won the vote.  We planted over 100 seeds.  Many sprouted.  We chose 3 sturdy plants to save and removed the excess.  They are flowering.  We are hoping to see the new pumpkins soon.  They will be very small.  Unfortunately, aphids have found the plants and are making it their home.  Mrs. Moreno has sprayed the plants with soapy water to try to eliminate some of the pests.  If this doesn't work, we will have to invest in some ladybugs.  We will update you as to our progress in a few weeks.
