STREAM Day
In the art room students are provided with multiple modes to express new knowledge. Open-ended projects allow students to think critically and develop a personal style. Students can choose from traditional materials such as drawing and painting, sculpture, or work through concepts using technology. Choice-based classrooms allow students to work in their own style just above their skill level. Learning becomes more personalized in this setting and each student can be nudged to challenge themselves and grow. They are encouraged to experiment with new materials and techniques, such as polymer clay jewelry making and faux-stained glass in the risk-free space of the studio. Mistakes are celebrated, allowing students to think critically about solutions and make adjustments. This type of brain agility is paramount for 21st-century learners.Â
