Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to fourth grade! We hope that everyone had a wonderful summer. We are Mrs. Roxanne Acosta and Ms. Oriana Pfeil, and we are very glad to be your child’s fourth grade teachers this year! For those of you that are new to St. Matthew Catholic School, we welcome you and look forward to working with you. For those of you returning to St. Matthew Catholic School, welcome back!

We believe that parent-teacher communication is extremely important and encourage you to contact us with any questions and/or concerns. We will be available by e-mail, Remind, school phone, or through your child’s agenda. Please make sure that you sign and check your child’s agenda on a daily basis. We will also be updating our class web page on a daily basis.

Our goal is to help students become active in their education so they enjoy learning new ideas and concepts that they can take with them throughout their educational career. Therefore, our mission is to touch the hearts of each of your children, while instilling lifelong learning. We will give our students the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful future, as well as instilling an eagerness and enthusiasm to know more and to question why. Catholic Education has a tremendous advantage in your child’s life, it provides excellence as a result of practicing catholic values. It is very important that we work as a team for excellence to happen, as education begins at home. Your role as a parent is crucial in supporting academics, although it has to have a balance so your child becomes independent and accountable. We want them all to believe that there isn’t anything they can’t do. We plan on making your child feel confident academically, as well as raising his or her self-esteem personally. We will achieve this while being sensitive and aware of each of their capabilities and needs. Our classroom will include mutual respect and kindness for all. “In 20 years my students may not remember what a said, but they will always remember how I made them feel” –Anonymous

Gratefully,

Mrs. Acosta and Ms. Pfeil
