DANCERS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
SURI GHODADRA, CLASS OF 2027
INTERVIEW WITH THE ARTIST
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE WORK YOU CREATED?
SURI: Mainly going through pictures; I found one that was “a really awesome moment that was captured in that photo” and felt like “there was a lot of culture captured that evoked emotion."
WHAT DID THE CREATIVE PROCESS ENTAIL?
SURI: 1. Lots of hours of work
2. Lots of material
3. Sheer amount of focus - gets really taxing
WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THIS WORK COMPARED TO YOUR OTHER PIECES?
SURI: More culturally influenced. “Could see movement” compared to other pieces which are more still life.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU LOVE ABOUT CREATING ART?
SURI: I really like just seeing the end product. A lot of people say it's the journey, but honestly, for me, it’s just like seeing how far I've grown and all the hard work I’ve put into this painting on a sheet of paper.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO CREATE?
SURI: I just really like drawing; personal enjoyment.
DOES THIS PIECE AFFECT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
SURI: Yes; I ended up using a new medium that I use a lot now.
