Last week's Collective Worship focused on the theme of meeting personal challenges, inspired by the story of Jesus setting his face to Jerusalem. We introduced the concept that life can be like a journey, filled with various challenges and obstacles that we must face with determination and courage.
We discussed how Jesus, knowing the difficult path ahead of him, steadfastly set his face towards Jerusalem. This act of courage and resolve serves as a powerful example for us all. Just as Jesus remained committed to his journey despite the challenges, we too can face our own personal challenges with faith and determination.

Reception's Roaring Success at the Zoo!
What a fantastic zoo trip Reception had! The children were exceptionally well-behaved and truly exemplified the values of our school. They were kind, polite, and curious throughout the entire excursion. We were fortunate to witness a variety of animals, including adorable baby meerkats, a three-month-old rhino, a lively family of otters, and the elegant flamingos.
Some of the children even took the opportunity to write their own recounts of the trip, and we were amazed by their wonderful writing skills.
Lights, Camera, Charity: Movie Night for Playskill
What an amazing evening we had on Friday! Our Movie Night to support this term's chosen charity, Playskill, was a huge success. The children had a fantastic time choosing between three great films: "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget," "Trolls: Back Together," and "Kung Fu Panda 4". It was wonderful to see their excitement and enjoyment as they watched their selected movie with friends and family. We raised £440 on Movie Night, bringing our total to an impressive £980! Thank you to everyone who contributed, attended, and helped make this event so memorable. Your support is greatly appreciated! 🎉🍿🎬
Choir's Heartwarming Visit to Riverside Lodge
Children from Years 2 to 5 who attend choir each week had the wonderful opportunity to visit Riverside Lodge Care Home on Friday. Their performance included a delightful range of songs such as 'What a Wonderful World,' 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious', 'If I were a rich man', and a variety of hymns. It was truly heartwarming to see the staff and residents join in, singing along to some of their favourite tunes. The joy and smiles shared by everyone made the day incredibly special.
A big thank you to Mrs Wilson for her dedication and hard work with the choir, ensuring the children were well-prepared and confident. Thank you to Mrs McLeod for accompanying and providing invaluable support.
The visit was a memorable experience for all involved, showcasing the power of music to bring generations together.
Year 6 Residential Adventure Begins!
And they are off! Year 6 have embarked on their eagerly anticipated residential trip. They left at 8:30 on Monday morning, filled with excitement and enthusiasm. The students will be staying at the Aylmerton Field Study Centre until Friday, where they will enjoy an action-packed itinerary filled with fun and educational activities. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return!
Rehearsals in Full Swing for Our Summer Fair!
Preparations are in full swing for our upcoming Summer Fair. The gymnastics clubs are hard at work perfecting their routines, and the choir is practicing diligently, filling the hall with their beautiful music. Our Year Four class is preparing to perform "It's a Hard Knock Life," and our karate club will be demonstrating their skills. We look forward to showcasing all of their hard work and talent at the fair!

Upgraded Breakfast Club
We are excited to announce that Breakfast Club has had an uplift! We are now running Breakfast Club from the dining room. Over the Easter break, we upgraded the kitchen area in the dining room, which means we can now offer a wider variety of breakfast options. Every day, children can enjoy cereal, toast, yogurt, and fruit. Additionally, we are rotating other delicious options such as croissants and waffles.
The new dining room location also makes it easier for parents to drop off their children in the mornings. Plus, we have more adults on hand to welcome the children and ensure a smooth start to their day. There are plenty of activities available including colouring, lego, board games, and some fun educational games on the Chromebooks.
We look forward to welcoming your children to enjoy a nutritious breakfast and fun activities to start their day

Important Reminders
Fingers crossed this beautiful weather is here to stay. Please remember to suncream your child before coming into school and a hat is packed for playtimes. Children without a hat on sunny days will need to stay in the shade.
Reception - KS1 drop off
We would like to simplify and speed up drop off in the morning, enabling Reception and KS1 parents to 'drop and go' more easily. As three year groups are dropped to the playground with parents, making the area very busy, we will be encouraging parents to 'drop and go' from entrance to the classrooms by the KS1 prayer garden. Teachers will remain in the classrooms to greet the children and start their early morning work. Mrs Palmer will remain by the gate and a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) will be by the prayer garden taking notes from parents as needed.
The doors to the classrooms will be open from 8.35am and close promptly at 8.50am. TheKS1 gates will close at 8.55am.
KS2 drop off
We are noticing that children are coming into school earlier and earlier and hanging out in the KS2 playground. We have had children not booked into JD arriving at 8.15am. There are no adults on the playground to supervise them at this time. We want to keep them safe!
From Monday 10th June, the KS2 playground gate won't be opened until 8.35am when the children can come in from the road. By then, staff are working in their classrooms. If you would like your child to be in school earlier than 8.35am, please book them onto JD. If we see them hanging around the gate or front of the school without parents before 8.35am, we will pull them into JD.
Attendance at school is the foundation to a child's future success and happiness. Over the coming weeks, we will be taking a letter from the alphabet, in turn, in order to highlight the importance of being at school and advice for parents and carers.
L is for Learning. If your child is not in school, then they miss out on valuable lessons and experiences that are crucial for their academic and personal development. Regular attendance is key to ensuring they keep up with the curriculum, develop strong social skills, and build a foundation for lifelong learning. Let’s work together to make sure your child doesn’t miss out on these important opportunities.
Parenting Courses
We have such an amazing school and are looking at ways to promote ourselves in the wider community. To do this, we will be developing our use of social media. Please like our new Facebook page and any posts that you enjoy.
