Aspiring, nurturing, flourishing;

"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son."
John 3:16
Last week, we continued to delve into the Christmas story further, reflecting on its meaning and significance. Both KS1 and Reception brought this to life through their beautiful nativity performances - what budding stars we have at St Mary's! Their hard work and enthusiasm truly captured the spirit of the season.
Next week, KS2 will be hosting our Carol Service on Wednesday evening. All classes will be singing, both individually and as a group, alongside our school choir. Year 5 will be creating the nativity to bring the story to life in a unique and memorable way. We look forward to celebrating this wonderful occasion with you all.

Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day
Last Wednesday was filled with festive joy as we enjoyed our delicious Christmas lunch and celebrated in style with Christmas jumper day!
A big thank you to Sandra and Sue for preparing such a wonderful meal. Our head girl and head boy, Kezia and Louie, added the perfect finishing touch by expressing heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire school community and leading a cheerful round of three cheers.
Over the past few weeks, our children have been learning about Eglantyne Jebb, the inspiring founder of Save the Children. Her incredible story has helped us reflect on the importance of compassion and making a positive impact on others’ lives—values that truly resonate with our school community.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Save the Children collection today. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Choir Performing at Riverside Lodge
Earlier last week, our school choir had the privilege of visiting Riverside Lodge, where they performed a wonderful selection of Christmas songs. The festive spirit was truly alive as the residents joined in with some of the songs, creating heartfelt moments. It was a beautiful reminder of the joy and connection music brings during this special season.
Oh Yes, We Are! Off to the Pantomime We Go!
Once upon a time, in a little school called St Mary’s, the whole school set off on an epic adventure to the magical land of Watersmeet Theatre to see Jack and the Beanstalk!
Narrator: And so, the children and staff set out, walking through the town, ready for an afternoon of excitement and adventure!
Audience: Oh no, they didn’t!
Narrator: Oh yes, they did!
When they arrived, they settled in to watch the show. Suddenly, two brave Year 5 villagers appeared on stage!
Teacher: Look! It’s our Year 5 stars!
Audience: Awwww!
At the interval, everyone enjoyed a magical moment – ice cream for all! (Oh yes, they did!) Recharged and ready for more laughter, they watched Jack save the day and bring the story to a happy ending. When Jack beat the giant, the whole school erupted into cheers!
Year Six Visit to the Imperial War Museum
Year Six explored the First and Second World War galleries, as well as Lord Ashcroft’s gallery, which houses an incredible collection of war medals. It was eye-opening to read heartfelt letters soldiers wrote to their loved ones, see the diverse uniforms worn by soldiers from different countries, and grasp the scale of the weapons used in battle.
This trip provided Year Six with a powerful glimpse into history, perfectly setting the stage for our upcoming History topic on the Second World War after Christmas.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our parent helpers who made this memorable experience possible!
The Romans Invaded Year Four!
Last week, Year 4 stepped back in time and experienced life as Roman soldiers! They designed and created their very own Roman shields 🛡️, showcasing their creativity and craftsmanship.
Afterward, they learned how to march like real Roman soldiers and got into formation for a thrilling drill session. It was a fantastic hands-on way to learn about Roman history and military tactics!
Well done, Year 4 – you make brilliant legionaries!
