2023-2024
Welcome to St. Mark's Experiential Learning!
January 10, 2024
A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Within the pages of this site lies opportunities to embrace learning in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts. These courses go beyond the individual disciplines you experience otherwise here at school. Faculty will leverage the power of immersive, hands-on engagements to encourage you to question and connect personally. You will learn through challenging tasks and environments. And for many of you, your path begins with a choice; which course will you choose?
Students, as you navigate through this course guide, I ask that you actively seek out places you can lean into lifetime skills, exchange ideas, and challenge yourself. While placement is not done on a first-come basis, those who complete enrollment on time will receive priority. Thank you for you understanding; do not hesitate to send any questions my way.
ABOUT MISSION
St. Mark's Saturdays (SMS) and Lion Term align substantially with the school mission to educate young people for lives of leadership and service. You can read more about this alignment here.
ABOUT LOGISTICS
Beginning this year, St. Mark's Saturdays take place in two academic semesters: fall and spring. This is a change from previous years, and will mean that students will take only two classes each academic year, for a total of 14 Saturdays from September, 2023 to May 2024.
Enthusiastically,
Jillian Nicks
Director of Experiential Learning
