Our Resource Department is an integral part of SMCS. The goal of Resource is to provide academic intervention and support to students to ensure success in the classroom.

We recognize the unique learning profiles of our students, and we appreciate their strengths and their weaknesses.

Our Resource Team works together with the classroom teachers to identify learning differences and to create strategies to support and challenge students. We also work in small groups to strengthen academic skills and support academic success.

The Resource Department is staffed by 2 full time NC certified teachers. We also serve on the MTSS committee and consult directly with classroom teachers. We administer screenings and additional necessary assessments. When a need for Student Support is identified, a team of teachers and administrators work in tandem to develop a Student Support Plan. The plan includes accommodations , resources, tutors, and other professional needs.

The teachers in Resource work closely with the Faculty to effectively communicate information regarding students' needs, including accommodations, skill based remediation and curriculum support.

It is our primary goal to serve as advocates for identified students and to support them ans their parents in their quest for Academic Excellence.
