Entry Recommendations:
Level 3 Project X builds from Project X at Year 11 and 12, however, this does not exclude students who have not previously studied Project X. Students are encouraged to take this course if they are keen to learn in a work-like environment. Project 3X enables students to develop employability skills. Students are empowered to take ownership of their learning with guidance from the teacher-facilitator. Student success is related to how best they utilise the resources that are available to them and to overcome barriers that they encounter through the process of completing their group project.
Project 3X provides students with an opportunity to be independent learners who are encouraged to take learning risks. Students learn by applying essential skills throughout the process of achieving their group outcome.
This course continues to help students develop essential skills such as being:
Effective self-managers and communicators
Flexible critical thinkers and problem solvers
Collaborators
Responsible citizens
Course Outline:
This is a Project Based Learning course in which students will embark upon a group project. Students are encouraged to work collaboratively to co-construct an authentic learning pathway based on their collective interests and passions. Students draw on multiple curriculum areas to complete an approved group project. The focus is to apply teamwork skills to teamwork skills to develop a common outcome.
Skills developed in the course:
A project that - is a product, a service or an event that is a solution to an existing problem
A project that - excites and interests them
A project that - is community minded
A presentation to the community at the end of the course
Course Costs:
Up to $100 for local field work trips and guest speakers.

Assessment:
Project work can be assessed against a range of internal unit and achievement standards. All standards in this course are internally assessed. Standards offered in other NCEA course for a particular student will not be assessed against in Project 3X. Credits achieved in Level 3 Project X is a pathway to a UE. Note: if a student is studying a technology course. assessment standards may over lap.
