Course Outline:
History of Art is concerned with the analysis and interpretation of works of art within their cultural and historical setting. The aims of the course are to teach the students to use and understand the terminology appropriate to the subject, to recognise technical and stylistic conventions, to distinguish between individual and period styles and to understand the function of art within the social context of the time.
