Entry Recommendations:
Open entry. SMC Foundation Diploma Materials Technology is an advantage. Students who have completed the Year 11 course will have priority entry.
Course Outline:
The Level 2 Materials Technology course addresses the requirements of the technology achievement standards through a variey of projects both theory and practical.
The following skills will be developed:
Brief development
Research
Garment construction
Materials testing
Advanced garment construction
In the “WOW” project students develop skills in:
Time management
Concept drawing
Functional modelling in a range of materials
Creativity
Course Costs:
Approximately $100-$250. All costs of materials used in the construction of the design solution are the responsibility of the student.
The course leads to:
NCEA Level 3 Materials Technology.
