Welcome to Mr. Fremed’s seventh grade math class! I am looking forward to working with each of you throughout the school year. While we are starting out the school year with “distance learning,” we are still in school, still learning. St. Jude is providing us the online environment and necessary support for a productive and successful school year, and as Jaguars I’m confident we will rise to the occasion and continue our pursuit of academic growth.
Seventh grade math is our first stop through the portal that will eventually lead to Algebra. We will have the opportunity to solidify our knowledge of fundamentals through in-depth reviews of the major topics previously studied. Additionally, we will expand our studies of foundational algebra, working with multiple-step equations and inequalities. We will take a more thorough look at linear functions, graphing them and interpreting the results. Of course, one of the great challenges of this year is building our comfort working with word problems.
Along with your textbook, supplies include pencils, erasers, red ballpoint pens (for correcting), standard lined paper, and some graph paper.
Staying organized is a great way to help ensure success in math class. I recommend a 3-ring binder to keep your papers in order, with separate sections for notes, work in progress, completed (turned in) assignments, and (“blank”) paper ready for use. Another option would be labeled paper trays.
Please make sure to not only attend our online class sessions, but to participate in the discussions as well. Asking questions is one of the most important ways for individuals to learn. If necessary, don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me for additional assistance.
It’s time; let’s get this school year started! I think we are all going to learn a lot, and have a fun time along the way!
