Altar Society: This is an organization that includes ALL women of the parish and is a vital behind-the-scenes work group. They provide food for funerals when families need the support of the parish, they bless all parishioners by keeping the church clean. In addition, they raise funds to help support the parish in various ways, including care of the kitchen at the Parish Center.
The group operates in an orderly, fair system. Each new member is assigned to a ‘month’ when new booklets are printed at the end of the year. The ‘months’ rotate on an annual schedule. December’s group moves to January and each month rotates in turn. The December group provides the officers the upcoming year, (this only comes around once every 12 years). Each individual ‘month’ also rotates each year, with new members put on the bottom of the list and rotating up the list until it’s their turn to be a co-chairman or chairman for their month, (this only comes around every 10-15 years depending on the members of the group).
Each month the members are responsible for cleaning the church and helping provide salads/desserts when funerals arise and one major parish project during the year, such as: Ice Cream Social, Baccalaureate Meal, Raffle, Potato Bar, County Gov’t Day Meal. The chairman/co-chairman will contact members when needs arise. New booklets are printed at the end of each year and are available at church entrances.
