We'll continue our picture project in class next week!

Today, visit one of Mrs. Howard's favorite reading websites: Storyline Online and select a story to enjoy!

(Some of the favorites at the Howard home are: Enemy Pie, Brave Irene and The Tale of Peter Rabbit.)

Week 21: Kindergarteners have been learning about the artist, Andy Warhol, in art class. We'll use his work as an idea by using creating repetitive pictures of ourselves with Photo Booth.

Mrs. Goetz's class, due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we won't meet for class on Monday!

Week 20: Last week, we worked to navigate the keyboard, finding the shift key to capitalize our letters as well as using the space bar to put (just one!) space between our words. We'll review these this week as well as locate (and use!) the delete key.

Week 19: Happy New Year!

We're becoming experts with the computer mouse and this week we'll begin to give more attention to using the keyboard. We'll work on typing the letters of our name, using the shift key to capitalize and adding a space between our first and last name.

Week 14: Let's continue our coding study! Use the directions to move the robot to the metal! (Remember, it's okay to make mistakes...in fact, now we know it can be helpful as we problem solve!)

We'll also talk about E-Learning...and how if we miss school on a computer day - Mrs. Howard will put our activities on the computer website as usual!

Week 13: Last week we learned that computers are excellent at following instructions - however, it's important for instructions to be correct in order for the computer to work the way we want it.

Those instructions are called code! Let's continue working on our problem-solving skills by writing code for the characters on our screens with Code.org. (Mrs. Goetz's class, we won't meet this week, due to Teacher Record Day.)

Week 12: This week, we'll begin our study of code! We'll learn about how computers follow step-by-step directions, which is known as code.  Kindergartens will practice ordering these directions (sequencing) with Code.org.

Week 11: Last week, we began using Google's AutoDraw. This was a great opportunity to become familiar changing between the software's tools, as well as using the "undo" tool, sizing images on the screen - and continue master our "double-click" and "click and drag".

Week 10: Last week, we began drawing with our software, Kidpix. Unfortunately, we had some technical difficulties that have yet to be ironed out. In the meantime, let's keep creating with Google's AutoDraw.

Week 9: Now that we've about master accessing online activities, we'll take the next few weeks to explore one of our favorite desktop softwares - Kidpix. We use Kidpix to create our own illustrations or to add the program's built in illustrations. This first week, we'll try out the drawing tools - as well as "undo" option!

Week 8: Kindergartens are becoming experts at logging on to the computer and using Chrome to access Mrs. Howard's website and our daily activities. We'll put our mouse skills to the test this week, learn to click and drag with online geoboards.

Week 7: Now that we're familiar with how to access our school computers and Mrs. Howard's website, we'll get to work!

At St. Joe, we know that technology is a tool to learn and create! Let's visit the Chrome Music Lab - where technology lets us create music!

Week 6: Today we'll review how to log on and get to Mrs. Howard's website.

Let's visit  online tangrams!

Week 5: Today we'll learn how we "log in" to the computers with our secret password!

We'll also talk about the types of technology we use throughout the day. Extra time? We'll check out one of Mrs. Howard's favorite websites: online tangrams!

Week 4: We'll wrap up our NWEA assessments in computer class this week!Week: 3: Mrs. Mahoney's class - this week we'll complete our first NWEA test in computer class.  (Mrs. Goetz's Class - we won't meet this week due to Labor Day weekend.)
