No. While this program exposes students to the Berkeley experience, we encourage everyone to apply, regardless of their college preferences. However, we do prioritize students who express a strong desire to attend Berkeley. 

A 'first-generation' student is typically someone whose parents or legal guardians have not completed a four-year college degree (bachelor's or equivalent). In other words, if neither of your parents or guardians holds a bachelor's degree, you are generally considered a first-generation college student.

A personal statement is a written document that highlights your experiences, achievements, goals, and reasons for pursuing an opportunity, such as college admission, a job, or a scholarship. It showcases your personality, skills, and passion to demonstrate your suitability as a candidate. Starting early and thorough proofreading are key to writing a compelling statement. We also offer a tip sheet on our website to guide you through the process.

For UC applications, extracurricular activities include any non-academic pursuits outside the classroom. These can range from sports, clubs, and community service to part-time jobs, internships, artistic endeavors, leadership roles, and volunteer work. These activities provide insight into your interests, passions, and contributions beyond academics, showcasing your well-roundedness and potential for college success.

You can expect to hear back about your acceptance by late April.

While we cannot guarantee admission to UC Berkeley, EBHS ensures that you are thoroughly prepared to submit a highly competitive application. With the comprehensive application support offered, students in EBHS are significantly more likely to gain acceptance.

Our program is 100% virtual, conducted via Zoom and Google Classroom. In June, you'll have the opportunity to attend an in-person regional workshop, with a virtual option available if you're unable to attend. We are also working on making more in-person workshops available in the future.
