Our team wants to develop a portable mold detection device that can help people recognize mold problems in their homes before they become serious. Mold can grow in areas with high moisture and humidity, and many people may not even realize it is there until it becomes a bigger issue. Being exposed to certain types of mold can cause health problems, especially for people who have allergies or respiratory conditions.Â
The main goal of our project is to create a small and affordable device that can detect airborne mold spores in an indoor space. We also want to explore whether our device can identify different types of mold and estimate how likely mold is to grow in a particular area. By measuring the temperature and humidity, we hope the device can warn users when conditions are favorable for mold growth.
Another important part of our project is making sure the device is affordable and easy to use. Professional mold inspections can be expensive and not everyone has the money to get their home tested regularly. We want to create something that people can use on their own without needing any special training or experience.
Overall, we want to give homeowners and renters a simple way to keep track of their indoor environments and identify possible mold risks. While our device would not replace professional mold testing, we hope it can help people catch problems cheaply and earlier to make their homes safer.
