Problem Statement:
Effects loops for musicians tend to be complicated, prone to issues, and expensive. These can make or break a show, and lead to an enhanced sound, at the risk of causing more problems for everyone involved. When this problem happens at live shows, performers often have to quickly try to try to quickly recover, which is a task that is often not so simple. The sound engineer may try to help, however when the problem occurs on stage, this can be difficult to do.
Mission Statement:
At Snap Together, using snap circuit technology will be utilized to remedy many of these problems. This will benefit both musicians and sound engineers everywhere, allowing for a more stable and effective effect system to be in place. Within the next year, Snap Together aims to bring this technology to musicians, to streamline the overall experience of using effects on instruments. This will be an affordable effects system, allowing for fun effects to be accessible to a large variety of musicians.
Solution Development:
Based on research conducted, specific solution paths can be eliminated. One of which is that using an all digital form of an effects system can not be used. This is because surveys have indicated that musicians do not prefer the sound of digital effects, preferring mostly analog effects, when applicable. So using analog effects shall be a goal within our project. Another significant solution path, is that Snap Together shall prioritize the quality of effects over the quantity of effects. A large issue that musicians surveyed pointed out was that many multi effects systems do not have effects that musicians fins sufficient. This shows the need for emphasis to be placed on ensuring that the effects developed are of a higher quality.
