Winter Small Groups

I am in the process of planning winter small groups. The focus of the small groups for this session will be a book club, self-esteem, friendships, and building executive functioning skills. A permission form will be sent home to students that are selected for small groups. If you feel that your child would benefit from a small group feel free to email me.

**More events can be seen on the calendar.**

Did your New Year resolution involve self-care, reducing stress, or finding joy/happiness/contentment? Are you feeling the winter sadness? Already counting down the days to the next vacation? Completely happy and wanting some new ideas to stay that way? This article might be for you! Despite having "teacher" in the title, this article applies to anyone (even students).

This is a wonderful article that explains the basics of Growth Mindset. If you want more information on this, please let me know!

When we think of exercise and ADHD, we often think that it means we are wearing them out physically so they can sit still in class. However, this article discusses the research that shows that "the improvements in this case came in executive control, which consists of inhibition (resisting distraction, maintaining focus), working memory, and cognitive flexibility (switching between tasks)."

This article helps provide parents a detailed checklist that they can do one week, a couple days before, and on the first day of school to help their child minimize the anxiety associated with going back to school.
