WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING EVERYONE ON BOARD THIS SUMMER AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR!
TIMES - The program runs from 9 a.m.-12 noon durind Week 1 and 2. Please arrive beween 8:45 and 9.
STAFFING - We will have state certified teachers, teacher aides and older helpers from the school overseeing the groups and assisting where needed.
GROUPING - Children will be grouped according to the grade level they will be entering in September. This way we can modify the challenges and activities accordingly for each level.
T-SHIRTS, BAGS, and PIRATE GEAR - Attendees will receive all these items (and more). They should have them with them each day. If the shirt needs laundering, please have child wear a shirt of similar color so we can identify his/her group easily.
SNACKS - Children are to bring their own peanut-free snack and drink each day and we will make certain that those with food allergies will be at a separate table together. Snack and drink should be in paper or plastic bag with disposable contents (such as water bottle rather than thermos).
FACILITY USAGE - We will utilize the Science lab, art room, computer room and some addional classrooms. We have snack in the cafeteria. We will use the outdoor school yard for some activities.
ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL
Entry will be through the cafeteria doors and release will be at the Science lab door at the back of the Hicks Center. Both are in the main schoolyard down the driveway off Lindenwood Road.
No cars will be permited to drive into the area for safety reasons. Parents should park on the street and walk children in to the camp on the furst day of each new week for check in. The rest of the week, we will have staff out at the front of the school for those who wish to drop children off and have our staff walk the children in. This is optional. Parents are always permitted to walk them in if you prefer to do that.
ABSENCE - If your child will be absent or late, please contact Mrs. Lee at mlee@stclaresi.com. The school office (718-984-7091) or rectory (718-984-7873) should also be able to accept phone calls and relay messages to our staff. If we do not hear from you and your child does not arrive, we will call you in the morning to check on status
SPECIAL DAYS AND WEEKLY FINALES - Each Friday (weather permitting) we end the week with a water balloon toss at dismissal. Ice pops given to all youngsters there. We also have a water play day outdoors mid-week. We will also be planning one off-site excursion per week related to one of the careers for any families that want to join us.
PHOTOS and VIDEOS - We will post an array of pictures and videos of their children during the week. This allows parents a sneak peek at the children during the program and may spark conversation between the children and parents as to all they are doing and learning.
COST - $250 per week ($225 for second week if child enrolls for both weeks).
Zoo Scavenger Hunt on June 26, Staten Island Zoo, 2-4:30 p.m.
Open to all families who registed for Week 1 or 2
Children should bring a towel and wear some kind of swim wear under clothes so they can play in sprinkler. They should also wear water shoes. Please apply sunblock on them before they arrive at the school. We allow time outside to dry as well before we have them put on their shirts and shorts to go back inside (Thursday is the rain date)
Water balloons and ice pops will be part of the finale each week at dismissal.
