Miss Hamilton’s Social Studies (6th-8th) and Religion (6th) Expectations
Materials:
Each student is expected to come to class on time and be fully prepared. Fully prepared includes having all books, homework, sharpened pencils, pens, binder, Scholastic News or Junior Scholastic magazines, and a novel for spontaneous reading.
Classroom Procedures/Behavior:
I expect you to be in your seat when class begins with your homework out and ready to be checked.
If the homework assignment is written before class copy it in your planner- if not, you will have time to copy it before the period ends.
Complete the “Do Now” assignment. If you complete it before class begins, you may read quietly.
Please respect your teacher and fellow students by not talking out of turn. Raise your hand if you wish to speak.
No food, drink, or gum chewing allowed in class. Technology is allowed when told by me to bring it in, otherwise, your cell phone remains off in your book bag.
Homework
You are to expect homework every night unless I say you do not. Students are expected to have the assignments the following day (or otherwise stated.) Homework will be assigned to review what was learned in class. All homework is due the following school day unless given due date. To ensure your understanding and mastery of the skill you must complete homework and hand in on time. Homework that is not handed in on the due date will result in your name written in my notebook. On OptionC it will appear missing. You will have an opportunity to complete the homework assignment within ONE DAY. Five points will be taken off for handing it in the following day. After that, the assignment will no longer be accepted and you will receive 50% for that assignment. We review the homework each day. Any worksheet that was assigned must be placed in the Social Studies section of your binder.
Any assignment that will be graded and given a due date, will also be given a late date. It is usually one or two days after the due date. After the late date, the assignment will no longer be accepted.
Your Binder
All notes are placed in your binder. You are responsible for writing down your notes. If I assign you to write your own notes for homework, it MUST be placed in the notes section after it’s checked. Your notes can be written in any color pen/pencil you choose.
The binder MUST be a binder- not a spiral notebook
The signed contract in the front of the binder- NOT in a folder. As soon as I open the binder I should see the contract.
Grading System
Your grade is calculated as 30% tests, 20% quizzes, 20%projects, 15% homework, and 10% participation.
Absences
You are responsible for all assignments missed during absences. Check the school website stclarecatholicacademy.org and set up a homework network with a friend(s) for missed assignments while absent. Upon your return to school, due dates for missed assignments and make-up exams will be decided on by the teacher.
Tests/Quizzes
Tests/quizzes are to be completed in PEN- in black or blue (dark blue) ink ONLY (unless it is completed digitally). If you complete it in pencil or in a different color, you lose -2pts before it is graded. Any assignment that will be graded must be completed in black/blue ink as well.
