Session Description:
Do you have a student that who is frequently late or absent? Not completing assignments? Do they seem unengaged? Your student may be suffering from food insecurity, homelessness or housing instability, lack of transportation, and even domestic violence. Non-academic priorities and challenges often impact a student’s ability to perform academically.
Presenter:
Jose Lopez-Figueroa is the Director, Center for Access Services (CAS) at STCC. He earned his B.S. in C.J. and M.A. of Public Administration. Previous to the Director of CAS he was a TRIO SSS Academic Counselor. As CAS Director he works one-on-one with students to assist them in overcoming non-academic barriers.
