Session Description:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 protects the privacy of student’s educational records, and impacts, on a daily basis, our work as faculty members and staff. In this time of predominantly online teaching, unique challenges are presented everyday that make compliance with FERPA tricky. Learn about what the law requires of us, including when a student’s written consent is required to disclose their educational records, the exceptions to the written consent requirement, the “must” and “mays” of FERPA, and other issues of concern to us all.
