Session Description:
This session will highlight several Capstone projects in the School of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies as a high-impact practice. Find out how two faculty members used elements of backwards design in their courses to create equitable capstone assignments, instructions, and learning activities for students.Share your specific learning needs to inform the design of a Spring 2022 Capstone Community of Practice at STCC, where you can develop and revise capstone assignment instructions and grading rubrics specific to your course.
Presenters:
Dr. Aimee Dalenta has worked in the field of education for the entirety of her career. She has presented at national conferences in the areas of teaching pedagogy, student engagement, assessment, and child development, and has contributed to several books and educational publications. Aimee has taught in multiple settings from preschool through graduate school and is fiercely passionate about the community college mission. Her doctoral dissertation focused on developmental readers at the college level.
Ashley Pease is an assistant professor of Psychology, having joined the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department as a full-time faculty in 2020. Previously, Ashley served as program coordinator and data analyst for STCC’s Title III grant and as an adjunct professor. She earned a BS from Central Connecticut State University and an MS from Springfield College. Currently, Ashley is ABD in Springfield College’s Sport Psychology Program.
