Ms. Gatherall's Music Room

Welcome to the St. Bon's K-6 Music Program! My name is Brenda Gatherall and I have been teaching at St. Bon's for 19 years. Before coming to St. Bon's, I completed undergraduate degrees in Music and Music Education and also a graduate degree in Education at Memorial University. I also worked with the NLESD here in the St. John's area.

My teaching background is a mix of choral and instrumental music. I play the piano and clarinet professionally and I love building community through music. Helping our students become involved in our city (and beyond!) through musical outreach opportunities is a key element to our music curriculum. As a school, we bring our students to sing at hospitals, nursing homes, local music events , and even international music festivals and have fostered partnerships with choirs in Australia and Indonesia.

Experiential learning is a huge part of the St. Bon's curriculum so we bring the children to see live theatre and music performances whenever possible. As a school, we believe that all these music outreach events are important parts to a St. Bon's education to help them become "Men and Women for and with Others" . Personally, I love to see children share in the joy of music- making in our classroom.

Outside of school, I am a sessional instructor at Memorial University working with pre-service teachers.

This page will be primarily used to give upcoming performance dates for all the music activities for Holland Hall.
