Announcements

Our winter uniform policy begins this week. Please check the website for our uniform requirements. There is a uniform sale on Wednesday evening, in the cafeteria, if you need some pieces.

In Religion, the children will know and thank God for the gift of water. They will know that God wants us to be careful in using water and we need to take care of this gift.

In Math, we complete our chapter on comparing sets using numbers 0 - 5. Know the terms, "same, greater than, less than." Our new chapter focuses on modeling, counting and representing numbers 6 - 9. We will practice writing the numbers and learning the number words.

In ELA, we continue our unit on friends and discuss how friends get along. We continue recognizing color words by identifying yellow, green, blue and purple this week. Please practice the color words at home. In phonics, we continue to practice our short vowel sound of "Aa" as in "apple" at the beginning of a word. Our sight word for the week is "we." The children will be introduced to the word "noun" which is a naming word. It names a person, place or thing. We will dissect a pumpkin to see what it is made of and discuss how a pumpkin grows.

Thursday is a dress down day for a small donation. All monies will go to the victims of Hurricane Michael.

We will celebrate Halloween on October 31. During the afternoon, we will have a party after the Halloween parade. If you are able to donate juice boxes, water, napkins, plates or peanut free cupcakes, please send me a note. More information will go home next week about the parade, costumes and trick or trunking. If anyone would like to help us on this day from 10:40 - 1:30, please send me a note. We will select first responses, however, there are upcoming events if you are not selected for our Halloween celebration. Volunteers must meet the requirement of being fingerprinted and attendance at Protecting God's Children.

The school is sponsoring a Halloween Party on October 26, from 6:30 - 8:30pm, in the cafeteria. There will be a DJ and fun for all. Your responses would be appreciated by October 19. See the Communication Envelope for details.

Thanks and have a great week!
