  2. Complete the Comprehension Check questions (on page 226 or in Google Classroom).
    1. What enables us to capture data from natural and human systems?
    2. According to the pyramid graphic, what is the ultimate goal of the data we get from the many sensors that stream information?

    4. According to the video, how can connectivity, or “The Internet of Things,” help create a smarter planet?
  3. Complete “Analyze the Media” on page 226.

Wednesday (4/22)- Friday (4/24)

  1. Write a brief objective summary of the video (“The Internet of Things”). An objective summary is a retelling of the most important ideas in an unbiased way. (page 227)
    1. To write an objective summary, follow these steps:
      1. Watch the video, and take notes on the most important ideas.
      2. Put the ideas in the correct order, and restate them in your own words.
      3. Include important details from the video that help explain each main idea.
      4. Use an objective tone in your writing. Objective means that you do not include your opinion.
  2. Prepare and deliver an oral report about the video “The Internet of Things” using Flipgrid (page 227).
    1. To prepare an oral report, take notes on the following:
      1. Identify the source of the video. Who is delivering the information, and what is the purpose of the message?
      2. Determine whether the information presented in the video is supported by facts or opinions. A fact is something that can be proved. An opinion can be supported, but not proved.
      3. Consider the message the video conveys: What do the video makers want viewers to think or do? Is this message convincing?
    2. Once you have taken notes, organize the information into talking points-- a list of brief statements you can refer to while sharing your findings.
    3. Your video should be posted to Flipgrid by Friday (4/24) morning at 10:00 a.m. so that your classmates can view and respond. You must respond to at least two of your classmates by Tuesday (4/28).
