Dear Parents/ Guardians,

6th Grade Parents:

A test packet was sent home on April 17th and needs to be signed and was due by Tuesday, April 30th, please sign and return if you have not done so.

7-1: Our class trip is May 22nd. Information was sent home last week. Please return the permission slips and cost of the trip by Friday, May 10th!

In math, science, and literature, we have started using Nearpod.com as a way to collaborate with our classmates in class using technology! It is an interactive way to learn about any topic, share our ideas and assignments with our classmates, and use virtual reality to learn more about the world and explore different places in our own classroom!

Math- In math, we have begun our project including rates, percents, discounts, and taxes this week. The outline for the project is uploaded on Google Classroom and can be found in your child's folder. For the last part of the project we will be creating a mock store and the 2nd Graders will be "shopping" and practicing spending "money." In order for this component of the project to work every student must bring in materials to give out. Each student will have at least 5 of each of their 15 small items that somewhat resemble the items in their stores (a total of 75). For example, if you are creating a fruit stand, you could bring in fruit erasers to “sell” to the 2nd graders. The 2nd graders will have fake money to make their purchases. Do not spend more than $5 on these items. Other examples can include candy, pencils, etc. The items are due on Wednesday, 5/15/19.

Science- In science, we are exploring how matter and energy cycle through Earth's systems through studying the water, rock cycles.

Literature- This week we are beginning our next unit, A Starry Home. This unit allows us to explore different perspectives on space travel, both imagined and real.

I'm looking forward to a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Ms. Maligranda

Please wear formal uniforms on Fridays for Mass!
