The Friends Need You

From September 2016 the Friends (PTA) need to replace a number of the committee due to the fact they will not have children in the school.

To make sure we carry on the great work the Friends (PTA) do for the school we would like to have new members start in the new year so they will be in place and can start planning events in 2016. If you like working with a team of people who want the children at St. Martins have equipment (like gardening equipment) and events (like outings) then you are the type of person we need.

You do not need to be a parent but you need a link to the school such as grandparents or a near relatives; all we ask is for you to give some time to help.

Please think about it, the Friends (PTA) have been helping the school over many years and we would like to think it will go on for many more years.

If you would like more information call Nick 01579 349933 or email:

Next Committee meeting Thursday 28th January 2016 in the staffroom 3.30pm start, we do have child cover and it should not last more than 45 minutes. All welcome.

Christmas Fair

The Friends would like to thank all the people who supported the fair and made it such a good day, without your support we cannot raise the funds for items like the sound system and in 2016 funding of a gardening club this will help the pupils find out where our food comes from.

We also presented a gift to Neil Spencer for his long service to the Friends, we wish him and his family all the best for the future.

I would like to thank everyone for their help on the day and in the weeks before without this we could not put on these events.

Here comes the the usual ask!! As a parent, career, grandparent, uncle, aunt or someone who feels they would like to give some time to St. Martins and have some fun please think about it and give us a try.

If you would like more information call me, Nick on 01579 349933

Thanks again to all who support the Friends

Wishing you all a happy Christmas and hoping 2016 brings all you wish for.

Summer Fair Report

I must thank all who supported the fair held at the school on Friday. The children who ran all the stalls on the playground proved to very popular, the BBQ and cream teas run by the friends found they could not keep up with the orders.

With the hard work of the children, staff, Friends and the support of the parents the total for the day was over £1,000.00, this will be spent on equipment for the school.

I must thank Neil Spencer (treasurer) for all his work before the day like floats, buying all the food and his work on the day cooking and making sure all the money is accounted for.

The Friend’s also presented Katherine Rogers with a gift for all her work as chairperson over the past nine years, she has been a rock and great supporter without her the Friend’s would have closed and we would not have raised the great sums of money.

I would like to thank the new Friends who turned up at the fair and supported us they were put in at the deep end without arm bands and still kept on swimming. I do hope they have not been put off?

We will be holding a committee meeting at the start of the new term date and time to follow, all parents and carers are members of the Friends so all are welcome the more the merrier.

If you want more information on the Friends please contact me.

Thank you
