Year 3/4 Martin Luther King Class
Welcome to the Martin Luther King Class
Class Teacher: Miss Stokes
This terms topic is...
Food, Farming and Weather
We are looking forward to an exciting term of learning.
We will start by looking at the weather and taking weather recordings. We will find out about weather in different places. Part of our work will also look at how wind farms and solar panels can give us 'green' energy.
Our Science topic will cover moving and growing including the skeletal system and muscles in humans and animals. We will also be looking at the importance of exercise and a healthy balanced diet.
We will start by looking at play scripts based on familiar stories. Later on we will follow up with a trip to a Food and Farming Day by writing poetry and reporting on what we did and saw there.
In R.E. we will focus on the life of Jesus leading up to Easter.
Our whole class will be taking part in Forest School learning on a Wednesday this term. Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.
The experience will also help children with their Maths and English Learning.
Willow will be joining in with the learning. Willow is a trained and registered Pets at Therapy (PAT) dog. PAT Dogs provide comfort, encourage positive social behaviours, enhance self-esteem, motivate speech and inspire young people to have fun and enjoy their learning.
Our P.E slot this term is Wednesdays 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Children need to ensure that they have full P.E kit every week.
We will be taking part in Forest School this term every Wednesday at 11:15 am - 12:15 pm. Children need to ensure that they have a warm, waterproof coat and wellington boots with them. If possible please name the boots and place them in a labelled carrier bag.
