Reception Expectations

Welcome back to school. I hope you have all had a wonderful half term.

Our new topic is - I'm a storyteller

Our new topic this term is 'Wonderful World.' We are really looking forward to learning about the beautiful world we live in and enjoying the new season of spring. This term we will be looking at lifecycles, minibeasts and animals from different countries.

Reading

Reading books are provided at your child's level to enable them to read at home with you with confidence.

Please remember, the more your child practices, the better they will become as both a reader and a writer.

In school we read with your child once a week individually and twice a week as part of a Guided Reading group.

If you would like some more information about supporting your child with their reading please don't hesitate to speak to a member of the EYFS team or alternatively please find below a useful link which demonstrates each of the letter sounds your child is learning at school.

Please send your child in with suitable outdoor clothing to ensure they stay warm while learning outside. We have water proof trousers, coats and wellingtons for when the children are accessing the outdoor learning environment, but it is always a good idea to send in an extra pair of tights or socks for when it gets a little cooler.

Run, run as fast as you can...

This term we have decided to incorporate a class run into our morning activity. The children have really enjoyed running around our playground and we are going to try and build our fitness so that in the summer term the children will be able to run a mile which is 6 laps of our field.

Please could you provide your child with trainers so that they are wearing supportive and suitable footwear for our run.

Tiger Tim

Tiger Tim spent the weekend with one of our friends and it looks like a transformation has taken place...

Tiger Tim has turned into Super Tim!

...Introducing Super Tim!
