St Martin’s Church of England Primary School is part of the St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust. As part of a Multi Academy trust, we are able to work with and learn from colleagues, leading to a supportive environment for all our pupils. At St Martin’s we are committed in providing the very best in education and care for our learners. We recognize that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential.

Our Aims

At St Martin’s we encourage our children to: Love learning: our school aims to provide quality teaching so that our children develop a love of learning to enable them to achieve their aspirations. Be caring: our school aims to be welcoming caring and inclusive so that our children become kind and thoughtful members of their local and wider community. Be curious : our school aims to nurture curiosity so that our children develop a knowledge and understanding and love of the world Be independent; Our school aims to promote independence and confidence so that every child can make good life choices based on Christian values. Be valued: our school aims to give children a secure and happy environment so that they feel valued and develop a good understanding of their own and others beliefs. Be fit: our school aims to encourage children to be fit and healthy so that they continue to follow an active lifestyle and feels good and happy about themselves, All the teachers in the school are teachers of children with Special Educational Needs.

Our Approach

As such St Martin’s adopts a ‘whole school approach ‘ to special education needs which involves all staff adhering to a model of good practice. We have many tools and strategies to help us with this including ICT, intervention lessons taught by a teacher and SEN Teaching Assistants. Our team of dedicated Teaching Assistants have substantial knowledge and practical experience of working with children with a range of SEND needs. Our SENCo Mrs L Collins has achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co ordination.
