Oak and Elm Multiskills at Liskeard
On Monday, the sun was shining as Oak Class attended a fun-filled event at Liskeard School. All the children did well, but a special mention must be made to our fantastic year 5/6 girls team, who won first place overall – WELL DONE! On Tuesday Elm Class attended Liskeard School where they completed many different skilled activities. The children had fantastic fun and learnt many new skills. Well done Elm!
Sports Wrap up
This has been another year of growth in sport. The children have participated in a range of festivals and competitions, from netball, hockey, cross-country, swimming galas and athletics to tag-rugby! Braddock School is now a serious contender in our local area and we are a school to beat – well done to all the children who have participated! Our sports premium money has allowed us to buy lots of sporting equipment, including a new purpose built shed to store our equipment, as well as team clothing, so we look professional and smart. It has also funded our swimming and transport to our many festivals and sporting events. We have also employed specialist coaches and teachers to enable the children to learn some really high quality PE, for example, dance, football, bikeability and Plymouth Raiders. Our next development area is to continue with all the above and additionally, enter into gymnastics events, grass cycling and Indoor athletics. We also intend to invest in a range of specialised equipment.
What a wonderful day sports day was! The sun was shining, the children were ready and a wonderful day was had by all. On behalf of the school staff I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to support the day. Your cheers and support made for a great atmosphere. Thanks also if you brought a cream tea from the Friends of Braddock – they raised £66 in total. I’d also like to say thank you to all of the staff and Mrs Smith for all of the time and effort that went into organising the events. There will be lots of photos and reports from the day in the newsletter next week.
Well done to all the year 5’s who took part in ‘bikeability’ this week. The instructor was very impressed with the concentration and behaviour of the children. Next week the children will be using all their knowledge and putting this into practise on the roads.
This was a great success with over 20 children taking part in various races. The children received many certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in individual as well as team events. Well done to all the children who took part - we are proud of you all! Thank you also to the parents and staff who came along to support our team.
