We are a mixed year 1 and year 2 class. Our teacher is Miss Haworth and our teaching assistants are Mrs Enever and Mrs Brenton. We are a fantastic, friendly, kind and funny bunch. We LOVE to learn and have lots of fun whilst doing this.
In Elm we like to learn through activities, computers, iPads, dancing, writing and lots more; we think it's brilliant to learn in as many different ways that we can. Please take a look at our English, Maths, Learning Books and our Big Write books to see all our wonderful learning that we are proud of!

At the start of a new topic a 'Topic Web' will be handed out to inform you of your child's learning for the half term. Please see topic webs below.
Autumn Term 1 - Castles!
The children chose this topic because they wanted to understand and learn more about Castles. We have written stories, been on a trip to Pendennis Castle in Falmouth, sketched and built castles, learnt about the parts of a castle and many other exciting things - take a look in our books!
Autumn Term 2 - All Around Me!
The children have shared many ideas about what they wanted to learn about this half term. There were so many ideas linking to what was happening around them that we decided as a class to call our topic 'All Around Me!'. This half term the children have wanted to incorporate pumpkins, fireworks, Remembrance and Christmas! Please look at our topic web below to see how this links to curriculum.
Spring Term 1 - Paddington Bear Explores Extreme Earth!
The children have yet again amazed me (Miss Haworth) by their wonderful ideas for their topic. After having a lovely talk about what they have been up to over Christmas it was clear they had either seen Paddington Bear or were rather fond of him. So as a class we decided to send him to explore the earth. They want to learn about the extreme weather there is, look at the different seasons, create weather pictures, make volcanoes and compare our weather to Paddington Bear's home - deepest, darkest Peru. We are very excited to send Paddington Bear on his travels and see what we can find out!
