St Athan Community Hub and Library

Welcome to our website

We work with our partners - the Vale of Glamorgan Council - to provide a statutory library service and wide range of activities and facilities to the people of St Athan

This includes our community in its widest sense. We serve our entire council ward - including the villages of Gileston, Flemingston, St Athan, and surrounding areas.

Why not join our friendly team of volunteers?

A number of roles are available, while others are yet to be discovered. Volunteering with SACHaL has a great deal to offer in the form of fun, friendship, and meaningful opportunities to build your CV, and develop your skills and knowledge.

We need a wide range of volunteers, including:

  • Library Assistants (full training given by the Vale of Glamorgan Council Library Service, no previous experience required).
  • Activity co-ordinators
  • Maintenance people
  • Administration and finance team
  • Fundraisers, marketers, and communicators

We'd love to hear from you. Contact us for an informal chat!

Please donate

We provide vitally important services and facilities to the people of St Athan, Flemingston, and Gileston

In order to serve our community of around 5,000 people to the very best of our ability, we rely on the support of donors and grant awarding bodies. We are grateful to receive one off and regular gifts of money, books, materials, equipment, services, and time (volunteering).

Don't forget that in order to successfully apply for the big grants from trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies we need to demonstrate a solid base of community and regional support. All financial donations are therefore most gratefully received, because they are invaluable to us.

SACHaL is currently setting up formal structures and systems for receiving and processing a full range of different donation types, but in the meantime if you wish to make a much appreciated single gift to us, then please do so on our LocalGiving Wales page, and please do share the link and tell others.
