Health Science 1

HUMAN BODY’S SUPPORT, MOVEMENT AND USE OF NUTRIENTS – Remember and understand the structures, functions and disorders of the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory and digestive systems.

HUMAN BODY’S COMMUNICATION AND HORMONE CONTROL SYSTEMS – Remember and understand the structures, functions and disorders of the nervous, sensory, integumentary, urinary, endocrine and reproductive systems.

Health Science 2

HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION STANDARDS, SAFETY, AND INFECTION CONTROL – elements of healthcare career decision making, effective communication, understanding healthcare agencies, finances, and trends, legal and ethical issues in healthcare, concepts of teamwork and fundamentals of wellness, safety and infection control procedures.

HEALTH SCIENCE STANDARDS AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES – understanding diagnostic and therapeutic services, health informatics, support services and biotechnology research and development. Apply procedures to provide basic emergency care (first aid and CPR).

Biomedical Technology I

This course challenges students to investigate current medical and health care practices using technology and advances in health care research. Topics include ethics, forensic medicine, infectious diseases, organ transplants, cell biology and cancer, and biomedical research. English language arts and science are reinforced in this course.
