Goal:

To design and build a BOSYN and BOAT to compete against other teams in Terman Fountain.

Background:

Create a BOSYN that can pair to any BOAT, control its motion, and activate the the biter.

Build a quick and maneuverable BOAT that can receive commands from any BOSYN and can pop balloons when given the command.

Solution:

T-Wrecks and its accompanying controller are the perfect duo to wreck havoc on the competition. With 11 spring-loaded heads at the ready and reversible motors, T-Wrecks is a fearsome competitor. The BOSYN is custom built to give an emphatic way to shred opponent balloons to shreds.

Core Functionalities

Biter

T-Wrecks' claim to fame is its deadly biter. This multi-faced, spring-loaded mechanism is so strong it requires 2 servo motors to tension it and 2 more servo motors to hold it in place.

Reversible Motors

T-Wrecks has two reversible and submersible DC motors - one on each of the min hulls. This gives our BOAT a tight turning radius and allows us to drive backwards and forwards.

Thrust and Yaw

The BOYSN has two sliders to control the motion of T-Wrecks: thrust and yaw. These analog signals are converted to PWM motor signals using this arcade drive conversion.

Team Selection

A team select slider on the BOSYN allows the user to decide which BOAT to control. An LED next to the slider lets the user know if they have successfully paired with the chosen BOAT.

Robot Design Inspiration

After an initial brainstorming session, we came up with a trimaran design for the hull to ensure our BOAT would remain stable in turbulent water. We then noticed that the trimaran looked like a T - thus T-Wrecks was born. To live up to the fearsome legacy of its namesake, T-Wrecks was given a dangerous, spring-loaded biting mechanism that left no balloon unpopped.
