Per the entry requirements of the local government, you will need to travel with a passport that has at least 4 blank pages, and it must be valid for at least 6 months past the date that you will arrive back in the U.S.
We recommend you check the expiration date of your passport as soon as you register for your trip to make sure you have adequate time for processing in case you need to renew.
Visit the State Department for details about the passport application and renewal process and current processing times. Current routine processing time is 6 to 8 weeks, excluding mailing time.
U.S. citizens are not required to have a visa to travel to Singapore, Malaysia, or Thailand for stays of up to 90 days.
Upon arrival in Singapore, you will be required to fill out a Singapore Arrival Card at Immigration: https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard
This simple form is free of charge and just requires your passport information, your flight details, and a few short COVID-19 related questions. The Arrival Card may need to be completed a second time upon re-entry to Singapore at the end of the train journey on the E&OE. The Travel Director and train staff will be there to direct guests through specific border formalities.
A few helpful notes for filling out the Singapore Arrival card:
When asked for the next city/port of disembarkation after Singapore, please type "Kuala Lumpur".
Type of accommodation in Singapore: Hotel
Name of hotel: Shangri-La Singapore
If you are traveling with a companion, after filling out your own personal information, click on Add Traveler and fill out theirs; then proceed to the next page
You will need to fill out a Digital Entry Card for Malaysia within 3 days before arriving in Malaysia. You will be able to do this while in Singapore: Malaysia Digital Arrival Card - MDAC (imi.gov.my)
For travelers on the post-trip extension, a visa is required to enter Cambodia. Apply no more than 60 days before your arrival. Please see below for instructions.
Citizens of other countries should check with the nearest consulates for specific visa entry requirements for their entire itinerary.
If you are traveling independently of the group or to any other countries prior to or after the group program, check the visa requirements with the local consulates of each country you plan to visit.
Update as of January 20, 2025: In response to feedback on the rollout of the program, the government of the UK has removed the requirements for obtaining an electronic travel authorization (ETA) for transit passengers. If you are traveling through the United Kingdom en route to or from Southeast Asia, please review the website below and apply for the ETA if you are passing through border control in the United Kingdom.
Effective January 8, 2025, if you are not a British or Irish citizen and will be traveling through the UK en route to Southeast Asia (even if you do not exit customs/border control during transit), you will need to apply for an electronic travel authorization (ETA). U.S. and many other citizens can apply for a UK ETA using the British government’s approved app; the cost is £10 and turnaround time is generally within 3 business days. You will need a clear photo of your face as well as your passport picture page. Your ETA lasts for 2 years. You can travel to the UK as many times as you want during that time.
To learn more and to download the app to apply for your UK ETA, please visit this official website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
You will need to apply for an e-Visa. It is important to use the official government application sites; there are other webpages masquerading as the real thing. Once it is approved, usually between 30 minutes and 2 days, your e-Visa will be emailed to you. You will need to print the e-Visa and bring it with you. You will need to pay for the e-Visa on the official website, $36 for a Tourist Only Cambodian Visa. The visa fees are not included in the trip cost, and subject to change.
Before you begin, please note that you will need an electronic version of a passport-sized photo of your face on a white background without glasses to upload to the website. The size of the photo should be about 2” x 2” and no larger than 2MB, although some travelers report needing to use a photo no larger than 1MB. You will also need a photo of your passport, including the two lines at the bottom of the page, and no larger than 2MB.
