Patron Saint: Florists Missionaries Pilots Priests
My Confirmation saint is Saint Therese of Lisieux, better known as Saint Therese the Little Flower. She was born on January 2, 1873 in Alençon, France. Her birth name was Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin. Her parents were Louis Martin and Marie-Azélie Guérin Martin. She was born the youngest of nine. Therese became a nun at age 15. When she was 22 years old, Therese contracted tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is a disease of the lungs that spreads and causes coughing, fever, sweating, and weight loss. She died two years after contraction at the age of 24. She cured Sister Louise of St. Germaine, who had stomach ulcers, along with Charles Anne who suffered from tuberculosis. She also cured Gabrielle Trimusi from Parma, Italy. She suffered from arthritis in the back of her knee and tubercular lesions on the vertebrae. Saint Therese’s final recorded miracle was when she cured Maria Pellemans of Schaerbeek, Belgium, of pulmonary tuberculosis. Saint Therese was declared a saint on May 17, 1925.
