I hope you relaxed and practiced a lot of Spanish over the summer. This school year we will continue having fun and learning Spanish. Spanish class comes with some new activities this year. And of course we will follow the complete immersion methodology in the target language.

EL COMIENZO:

Are you ready to start the school year in St. Thomas the Apostle School? I hope so because this year the Spanish Class is going to be very fun!

We will use new technology to learn Spanish and create a Spanish immersion classroom. World Languages are very important and necessary in this century. In Spanish class, we will work especially in real conversation situations and necessary vocabulary.

Don't worry about your Spanish! With the youngest students, we will start with simple words, songs and games, while the older students will practice real situations that help them have the necessary tools to communicate in the Hispanic world.

Why is it important to learn Spanish?

  • There are over 400 million Spanish speakers world-wide.
  • With more than 33 million speakers, Spanish is the second largest language in the United States.
  • Being able to speak Spanish greatly enhances your resume. If you are bilingual you are more competitive in the workplace.
  • You can travel to a Spanish-speaking country and really get to know the culture.
  • As we grow older, our memory begins to fade. Learning a foreign language actually helps keep your memory sharp.
