Coach P is incredibly passionate about health and fitness and absolutely loves working with young athletes. As a mom of two teenage boys—a basketball player and a soccer player—her life revolves around them and their sports. From a young age, her boys have understood the importance of properly fueling and moving their bodies. Coach P believes there is so much that athletes must do to prepare for their sport beyond just skills and drills.
Growing up in a basketball family, Coach P was a varsity starter for all four years of her high school career. As a small forward, she had a killer 15-foot baseline jumper and a deep love for shooting, particularly emphasizing proper shooting form. She wishes every player was willing to put in the time and effort to improve their shot, understanding that it requires discipline. It was her shot and grit that earned her the opportunity to play AAU for Boo Williams, a significant milestone in her life. Although she ultimately decided not to pursue basketball at the collegiate level, Coach P shared her love of the game by coaching youth basketball for several years, focusing on making the game fun while instilling a solid foundation of fundamentals.
A competitive and goal-oriented person, Coach P set new goals after her playing days ended, finding ways to continue competing. She participated in 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and even a grueling marathon. In 2011, after moving to Okinawa, Japan, she was introduced to CrossFit, where she thrived in the competitive atmosphere—competing against herself to ensure her growth as an athlete. This passion led her to become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in 2013 and a Certified Personal Trainer in 2014.
After three years in Japan, Coach P and her husband relocated to Virginia Beach, where they began training and competing in Spartan Races. In 2017, she had the incredible opportunity to become the Head Trainer at Burn Boot Camp. This experience was transformative; she trained hundreds of women, built meaningful connections, and developed a deep understanding of the uniqueness of each body. Coach P became proficient in making modifications for various limitations and learned how to meet individuals where they were on their fitness journeys. She found great joy in helping people take the significant step of simply walking through the gym door. During her time at Burn, she supported women as they stepped out of their comfort zones, helping over 50 women join a "Burn Team" to compete in local obstacle course races, showcasing a remarkable diversity of ages and fitness levels.
In June 2019, after moving to Stafford, Coach P signed her kids up for the Forge Youth Basketball Camp. After meeting the coaching staff, she offered her personal training services to the program as a volunteer. For the past six years, she has enjoyed training players, serving not only in strength and conditioning but also as the JV Coach and now as a varsity assistant coach and the head of Strength and Conditioning for the program. Coach P is dedicated to guiding players on proper nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, mobility, strength, speed, agility, power, endurance, and mindset. She takes great pride in being part of this program.
